Ganesha or Simply Another Suffering Animal?

Amongst the various absurdities that afflict human race, the most appalling perhaps is the ironically erratic behavior of this specie. No other being on this planet is so ridden with complications and hypocrisy.

Consequently, when it comes to faith and religion, we leave no stone unturned to even force feed paleolithic idols of Lord Ganesha, but give the living symbol, the Elephant, a royal ignore. How come our hearts do not move when we see these iconic Ganesha's in the Zoo's or doing a circus show, all driven by starvation or a painful ankush? Is it because faith is blind or because something is wrong with our collective vision?

Todays 'The Hindu' carries a wonderful article on Elephants. Do take time out to read the following:

IPAN...just visit the site.

India Project for Animals and Nature (IPAN) is doing wonderful work for animals down south. It is a unique animal shelter located in the 260 square mile Mudumallai Game Sanctuary in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. IPAN has been providing shelter for injured, abused and abandoned animals in the Nilgiris region since it's establishment in 1996. (for more information you may visit the link)

Recently I asked Nigel Otter, the owner/founder of IPAN if I could carry the link of his website on my blog and he graciously agreed.

Just have a look at what the efforts of a handful of dedicated members can do to make the world a better place to live. By the way, you may contribute also if you wish to...just click: http://www.indiapan.org/funding.htm and see how you can help.

Something I recently read...

"You never really learn much from hearing yourself talk"...George Clooney

The Readers' Digest carries this gem in its "Quotable Quotes" segment this issue. It does give something to ponder on; a food for thought. Those who appreciate the "The Golden Virtue" (read the latest post, if you have no clue) and do not suffer babblers and braggers easily are bound to love this one as well...
